We have applied for planning, decision due soon. Just checked the plans our engineer submitted and discovered that one of the kitchen windows is in the wrong location. It's about 2m to the left of where we had planned to put it originally. Size remains the same. The window is out the back, overlooking fields. If we put the window back to where we originally wanted it, will we have problems with the planners if they were to check it etc.?

In general, in a rural location, if the window is not overlooking another property, and it's a GF window, it's not going to be an issue.
However, it's no harm getting in contact with your planning officer and dropping them a line re same.
If a planning inspector ever comes out to inspect the build, they will be concentrating on other issues, such as wastewater, sightlines, materials etc.

Went to the planning office and informed them of the window change, well my God are they strict! We actually have to re-submit amended house plan showing new position of the window in question. Having said that the planner was very helpful - the decision on our planning was being made, or had just been made (a week ahead of time), and he is going to hold it back now till Monday until we've re-submitted.

Thats playing it by the book alright but at least you will have everything in order when pp is granted.

If the planner is playing it that much by the book it is likely they will ask you to readvertise amended drawings because they will be considered unsolicited additional information and it will add a minimum of two weeks to your planning.

(I hope not, but I thought it best to mention it.)

Strangely enough it would be probably be called "unsolicited information" nationwide but here in Donegal they would consider if it was a significant change or not first of all (which I would consider not to be the case here) and then just grant the permission with the usual condition that the development to be built strictly in accordance with revised plans submitted on.......etc
