The hinge has been dodgy for some time on this dell laptop, it was looked after quite well and never dropped or damaged in any way, but the hinge would click from time to time opening and closing, eventually it busted open and seem to come off..

I left the laptop open to avoid opening and closing it, eventually someone closed it without realising and this was the outcome

Is it actually possible to send it anywhere to get it repaird since its not actually really a technical issue?

Mine (Inspiron 9300) was the very same, hinges are only a few € on ebay, and it's an easy enough job.

Fixed it last night! ...Wasn't that bad, unscrewed the plactic lcd cover and checked what the other hinge was doing... There seemed to be 2 screws missing on the hinge, so i replaced them and screwed it back on to the screen.... seems to be aok, and probably better than it was before, it used to click prior to it breaking and would scrape off the base of the laptop, but seems smooth now, the plastic is ever so slightly warped from the way it previously was but its aok really

thanks for the words of encouragement i guess!

Sorry, yeah - I was going to add 'check the screws first'. :D

One side of mine just had screws loose, the other the hinge seized.
