Just wondering whether anyone has found these beneficial.. just using the poormans composite cables at the moment on a tv that has component jacks..The TV itself doesn't have any HDMI socket.... ( believe me i've looked)

so the question is would it be worth my while getting them and if so what website could you recommend

i'll have to order them online as they can't be gotten in limerick, tried game/ gamestop and harvey norman

    cheers

    Its a HD TV then?

    It would absolutely help.

Anything would be better than composite - RGB cart, Component, HDMI in thaty order.

Has it got DVI? If it's a HD telly it has to have HDMI or DVI I thought.

Other than that, if it's a HD telly it's definitely worth getting a HD lead of some kind.

Of course, even if it does have a DVI, and you get a HDMI-DVI converter, you will not be able to get any sound via it?

So you would probably need a sound system of some sort. I know you can make the PS3 output one way in picture and another in audio but I so not know if you can make it oiutput picture via DVI and then via composite / Scart for audio on the same TV)

Thought most converters had an audio thing attached for putting in. I dunno, just making a suggestion, he could read up on it. :P

Defo worth it. You can get a cheap one on dealextreme.com but delivery takes about a month.

But they haven't said if the TV is HD. Could just be a 480p set for all we know... (even so, it'll still be a worthwhile upgrade over the bundled composite cables)

Yeah, it might not be full HD or even ready, but it would still be better than dam RCA :(

I didn't even know non-HD TVs had component sockets.

Learn something new and all that..

Yep they do. They will give you a gorgeous RGB scart quality picture, perhaps slightly better. It's still a world better than crappy composite.

Loads of non-HD things have Component, most newer SD Sky boxes do, as do some DVD players, though I'd imagine that's happening less with upscaling HDMI players being so cheap.

If a hdmi-dvi cable is used ,you can still use the multi-av cable for sound (red and white rca)
