So has anyone listened to the new album yet? What do you think about it?

So far I don't like it as much as the first album, but there are some very good tracks on it. I'm loving Baptism and Intimate at the moment. Not much of a departure from the first album but I can still enjoy it regardless

    Opinions?

I think it's probably as much of a grower as the first one, which took me a few months to really love. Baptism is definitely the highlight for me, fantastic tune, but I think Year of Silence, Doe Deer and Birds are great as well. Looking forward to the physical release in May :D

baptism is superb, Love Year of SIlence, Empathy and Celestica. A bit of filler in there as well mind. They seem to be the kind of band who can lash out 4 or 5 great tracks no problem, but consistency is an issue. Still worth a buy though (great for the gym :D)

Yea, I'd agree with that, neither album I'd happily listen to the whole way through. There's always at least 2 or 3 tracks I'd skip

I think it's a decent effort, I like that they've garbled Alice's voice because I feel that what she adds to the music is negligable. Baptism also struck me as the highlight.

Can't get over how sh*t they were when I saw them live about 3 years ago still.

This is Electronic/glitch though, howcome all these albums are appearing in the alt/indie forum?

Where did you see them when they were shít?

I've seen them in Galway in Sept 08 and at the picnic that same month and on both occasions they were mighty. Even got to hold hands with Alice :)

I'm skeptical, because there's just no beating "Alice Practice"...the embodiment of "TUUUUNE!"

Cypress Avenue in Cork. Was a 7 song set. Sucked. Alice seems like a mess.

That's not actually them, it's a cover some guy did after listening to Baptism live - the real version is far better.

Ah cheers, I thought it sounded a little off :)

I saw them last summer and I thought it was a really good show. The crowd were going insane

really liking it so far..only listened to four tracks 'baptism','celestica','birds and pap smear...could anyone reccomend a few others?

I've only heard Baptism, Doe Deer and Intimate so far. I'll definitely check out the rest of the album. Disappointing to hear that a lot of it is filler though.

I really like it! Baptism, Pap Smear, and Intimate would probably be the stand out tracks for me :) I think the live version of Intimate's a bit better though... More atmospheric or something.

I love the new album! Would happily listen to both all the way through!!

The only two I've listened to so far are Baptism and Intimate and they both sound pretty good. I'l have a listen to the rest of the album soon but I still think it's gonna be tough to beat Alice Practice!

I only really like Baptism, Intimate, Pap Smear and Empathy. The rest don't stand out much.
I much prefer their previous album.

Apparently Baptism isn't going to be a single, disaster it's some song! Also the fact they decided to name this Crystal Castles again is an iTunes nightmare.

See this is what i love about genres

Got to say love the attitude though. Maybe take it to half of the posters in the other thread that pointed out to you what Electro and Punk:confused: sound like.

Very well on your little thread and thanks for your wonderful contribution.

same as that.... loving those two so far though.
As per previous posters there was a few tracks off the first album I would have skipped over aswell. Sickened I missed a chance to see them for free in Toronto two summers ago, I wasnt into them :o

Can't wait to see them at EP this year.

    meh

Anyway, on topic, I think Pap Smear is fast becoming my favourite song off the latest album.

There's no need to be so harsh about something just because you have more authority and a larger post count on this website than me. I actually didn't get their genre information off of iTunes, if you actually look up the band, the majority of articles describe them as an "electronic" band. Just because people who mainly like Indie music, tend to also like CC doesn't make them indie..

    Electronic =/= Electro
