Are you entitled to take your outstanding holidays out of your notice period when quitting a job, or do you have to work the full notice period and accept payment in lieu of holidays?

Since you do not have any right to decide when you take holidays in the first place it would be up to the company's good will to say yes or no to taking them during your notice period.

Unless you're in a one of many position chances are better if you can show a good documentation etc. and/or have someone trained to do your job.

Ive been refused when I wanted to take remaining leave days as the last few days of my notice period before.
Just call in sick if you really need them. What are they going to do? Fire you?

holidays are normally taken by mutual agreement
it is norma;lly illegal to pay for untaken holidays
EXCEPT when you are leaving an employment where the balance may be paid

I don't think so. Most decent companies allow you to go on hols when you want to. Snowboarding in June isnt that much fun.

Your employer has the right to decide when you take your holidays. So they may not allow you to take holidays during the notice period. However, they do have to pay you for the untaken portion of this year's holiday allowance.

It's still at their discretion though.

Call in sick. Just tell them you have a sore arse and you are out for the week. They might not pay you while you are out, but there is really nothing else they can do about it.
