Hey everyone i hope this does not sound to ghoulish but just curious as to your ideas re 2FM and the Gerry Ryan show replacement??

What do you think would work?

For me i thought that maybe Marty Whelan would fit the slot with something different.

I mean..you couldn't have any old Dj in that slot..you need a personality!

And 2FM have to put something big in there to keep the listenership..

What do you think?????

I imagine/hope 2FM will drop the phone-in show for at least a month as a mark of respect.

Darcy wouldn't be as free as he is on Today Fm. Plus, he's safe there. If he goes to 2FM and if doesn't get the listeners and gets sacked, Today Fm won't take him back.

hard to think of anyone in RTE who could do justice with the diversity of topics.

wonder will they look for new blood or completely revamp the schedules???

Didnt RTE want to totally rebrand the station a year or two ago but Gerry was kind of in the way of that?

Ryans death opens up a good opportunity to completely reshape the station, they should stick in someone to keep things ticking over and have a long hard think about what they want to do with 2FM.

I agree that it would be a good time for a revamped 2fm.

However i think that John McMahon has done a few good moves.

Maybe a total revamp is needed as 2fm is not 2fm without mr.ryan..

Personally i'd like Barry Lang in that slot for a different kind of show.
