Pump question.

I'm cycling reasonably long distances at the moment and I've been lucky not to have any punctures so far. I carry a mini-pump with me but it can't put a decent pressure in the tube so it would probably only just get me home.

I've been looking for a decent mini-pump, and having searched through the forum it looks like there's no such thing as a decent mini-pump.

Would you recommend going for a CO2 inflater? and if so, is there any difference between the different brands etc? Can you recommend one?

    Cheers!

You have a track pump already? If not that's a much higher priority than CO2.

Hi Lumen, I do indeed have a track pump. This is really just for out on the road if I get a puncture.

I got a Genuine Innovations Microflate Nano (because it claimed to fit disc wheels and was cheapish) but I think they're all pretty similar. I also have a hybrid CO2/mini pump by Innvoations too.

I'm not sure what the deal is with threaded/unthreaded compatibility, as I've only ever used threaded .

Presumably the naked metal ones are worse for freezing your fingers.

Thanks a million for the reply, I think I might see if I can get my hands on one of those hybrid pumps as that would be handy.

I have the Crank Brothers Power Pump. It attaches to the frame, and I have managed to get up to 120psi with it.

as this has veered onto track pumps a bit......

i was about to order one there on-line for about 35 pound sterling. i just noticed aldi is selling track pumps next thursday for 6.99 ! it doesn't appear to have a PSI gauge though. Is it worth paying the extra for the on-line ones for the sake of having an accurate PSI ???? (i wont be racing).

    thanks.

I had one of those Aldi pumps blow out on me at about 80psi. Top blew clean off.

You are certainly gettig what you pay for in that case - i.e. a load of c**p

    Wasn't mine for the record.

Ditto Lumen, Have Genuine Innovations micro pump(good for 90 psi with a bit of effort) and threaded option of using C02 inflator( 120psi on 700c/23). Threaded option means you can screw directly into inflator, unthreaded needs an outer casing to compress cartridge into inflator therefore a bit more bulky.
