Hi. For the past couple of weeks my girlfriend has been bleeding during sex (not during her period). It can be fairly heavy at times. I've finally convinced her to seek medical help (which she is doing next week) but I was just wondering if other posters have had experience of this? I'm fairly worried for her!!

Happened to me for a period of months. I was diagnosed with a cervical erosion. They're pretty common if you're on the pill, but often don't cause problems. Mine was pretty bad, I had to get an operation to sort it out. But bleeding during sex can be serious, and it's good that she's made an appointment with her GP to find out what's causing it.

It was happening to me about 2 years ago suddenly.

I went through all the medical test whilst thinking the worst but it turned out to be a pill problem....
Basically, I had been on the pill since I was 16 and 2 years ago aged 34 my husband and I decided he would have a vasectomy as we had 4 beautiful children and we decided we didn't want any surprises later.....
That was fine, he had the op and I duly went off the pill. In a nutshell, my menstrual situation went nuts i.e bleeding every 12-15 days, extremely heavy bleeding (for me), bleeding after sex. I thought this is it, I'm fecked but it turned out that my body had gotten so used to my period being regulated/controlled by the pill that it didn't know what to do when the pill was stopped and went a little gaga....
I went back on the pill and all was fine!!!!

So don't worry, I don't know all of your situation but it doesn't always necessarily mean the worst:)

Same thing happened me - it turned out to be cervical erosion. It's not serious but I bled alot both during sex and after, and did have to go into hospital for an operation also. It was just a quick op, literally was out for the count for about an hour and didn't have to stay overnight in hospital or anything. It is reasonably common and is caused due to hormones - in my case I had been running the pill together for a few months so it was my own fault!

Thanks for the replies all. Reassuring to hear other people have had similar experiences. I guess it could well be something like a cervical erosion, but only time will tell!

    Hey OP

I know you've said your gf is going to the doctor but just make sure she does. As previous posters have said it can be an indicator to something serious. Now at the same time, it mightn't be anything to get too alarmed over but she won't know unless she goes.

I'm sure things will be fine but glad she's going to checked out to put her mind at rest.
