    Those aren't particularly good films.

Bad actors/actresses can make it in the industry as long as they are easy on the eyes.

Jennifer Aniston would be a good example.
    Ben Affleck would be another.
That guy is just a terrible actor, yet for some reason he keeps on getting work.

Come on, she's just a female Orlando Bloom. Easy on the eye but
cant act to save her life. (Although my opinion of him did rise after
his extras appearance - still cannot act though)

Dunno, thought Bloom was alright in Kingdom of Heaven and the LOTR's films.
He's certainly not a great actor, but I wouldn't class him as a bad actor.

In fairness I dont think she's that bad, I liked Clash but if u only saw Liam Neeson in that film you would say he couldn't act either, his character was so overblown. It's the whole Orlando Bloom syndrome I think, people saying he's crap when he isn't that bad at all (Kingdom of Heaven), his characters are just similiar in a lot of his films.

I don't find her that bad at all, watched Three and Out last night and she was rateher good in it. I don't expect an Oscar winning performances from her but she's far from the worst actress out there.

She was also born with 6 fingers on each hand. Rawr.

It's refreshing to see someone who's not a stick figure getting big roles. I've seen her in Bond and Titans, she's not the worst actress in the world, I mean usually when someone is really bad it's distracting. Much like Jessica Alba is distracting in almost everything she's in. :pac:

I quite liked her TV work (Tess of the d'Urbervilles and Lost in Austen) but yeah, her films haven't been great. Don't think that's entirely down to her acting though - they're just not great films.

My point is that she is in all these high budget movies and she really does'nt make me wanna go see the film you know what I mean.

I mean Strawberry field I seen that bond film and I only noticed the other day that he name was called strawberry fields.

She Did'nt make me zing you know zing.... as in Wayne's World zing :D

I could name a dozen women in movies that make me go zing.

Right shes in St Trinian's and oh boy god shes was hot and Im not gettin into how old she really was mean too be in the film ha ha shes was hot.

Now I dont see her in the same hotness with Bond, Prince Of Persia, i can't speak for clash cause Ive not seen it.

I seen Iron Man 2 today and Scarlett was amazing wow:D

I think youre missing the point about her, she is not an A list actress and none of the films you've listed have been sold on her name. She is a co-star in those, I went to see Casino Royale not for her but for the fact that it was Bond. Same goes for Clash of the Titans, I would not see it for her but rather becuase it's Clash of the firckin Titans.

You seem to see her as ebing in the same league of Jessica Alba, Meg Ryan, etc, actresses who can open a film on their name alone. Gemma is not at the minute one of those name actresses, she's a confident co star who has the ability to give an accomplished performance which is all anyone expects from her.

thats my point I dont want to see her in ever poster or every huge budget film I want to see someone else maybe its just her lucky last 2 years.

I just think other actresses are better then her.

maybe she is not charging much too star in these films.

The are many actress's much better than her much like there are far better actors than many of her more famous co-stars. When you look at the filsm she's starred in over the past few years, she is far from front and center on any marketing material. They didn't see Clash of the Titans with a tag line "starring the chcik from those Bond films". She is a costar in these films and she does very well in that role. She is certainly a far superior actress to many more famous ones such as Kirsten Stewert, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biehl, etc.

So what? Being hot does not excuse being a poor actress. Alba is fine in fluff like the Fantastic 4 but in anything requiring actual acting she is way out of her league. It's not uncommon to watch as she's acted offscreen in every scene she's in.

I don't think you can use either of these films to argue Bloom's case for him. In Kingdom of Heaven, it is true that he's the central character. But he's a character that's driven by the characters he's surrounded by, and the events he's caught up in. This is especially prevelant in the far superior Director's Cut. But basically, if you removed Liam Neeson, David Thewlis, Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson, and even Ed Norton, who was behind a mask, from the equation, Bloom would have floundered.

In Lord of The Rings, he had to play an elf. All the elves acted in ways that, in another context, would have been slated.
To sum up, the guy is one of the worst actors on the planet. Look at any of his 'straight' films, like Elizabethtown or Black Hawk Down, to see why.

Orlando Bland is a truly dreadful actor, had the Black Pearl sank he would have been the only thing left floating.

Hold fast on judging Arterton as an actress until we see 'The Disappearance of Alice Creed', w/ the great Eddie Marsden.

She's easy on the eye and has basically only been used for this so far.
By all reports, this film was not an easy production for the girl.
