Hey, I just saw this on XDA forum and was wondering if anyone has tried it/does it work?

My battery life has been significantly worse since switching to 2.1 :(

I'll give it a go and let you know if battery life is any better over the weekend :pac:

Interesting. I have tried it on my desire and we'll see what difference it makes.

Sorry for dragging up this thread, but it does seem to have made a difference. I normally would barely get 18 hours out of the phone, and so far, 24 hours later, its sitting on 33% remaining.

I have now switched to GSM only. At the moment Im only getting around 5 hours battery from full charge :(

I'm trying this too. 100% and unplugged at 2:30Am, still at 100% at 7:30.. couple of texts, check email, and my daughter was playing with Chalky for a couple of minutes (including camera shot).. :D

    Now at 88%.

I am on villian 5.4, moved from 5.2 (was on stock 1.5 before that)

I have not seen a big hit on battery life at all, I did the first day when I was playing with the phone more.

Using a Hero by the way.

That's gotta be an app running in the background, nothing to do with background data.

Check settings->about phone->battery use and see if that tells you something.

also install advanced task killer and see the list of running apps, maybe try killing the non-essential ones. Or even post them all here and maybe people will spot a known battery drain.

The other thing to try is apn droid, which switches your data connection on and off as you need it.

Iv found Taskpanel much better than Adv Task Killer tbh as it lets you set which apps to kill and which to leave running.

apn droid might be the way to go! Does it automatically activate, or do you have to turn it on/off as you go?

Ive turned off animated backgrounds, and removed friends stream. I have everything set to manually update, so there should be very little data use in the background. I am a heavy internet user (using dolphin HD now) so that will probably be killing the battery. Looking at the battery information in Spare parts, it says that "lookout" is nearly a full pink bar, and internet is nearly a full blue bar. Im not sure what the pink/blue mean..

Im going to try with what I have at the moment, with just gsm. Ill gauge how long I get with that, then put on 3G, and see how it is then.

AutoKiller is the way to go. The way it works makes a lot more sense than all the other task managers around. you can read the technicalities on the homepage for the app.

Did a bit of surfing, took a couple of pictures, made a few short calls and did some picture editing.

    At 37% now.

Aha! Just re-checked update settings. I have 6 email accounts setup, and 2 of them were set to check every 15 minutes. Ive put them on manual, so I will see will that change anything.
