Why does any request for info on injury always end up with seeing a professional.

I know this board is not meant to be a substitute for doctor’s advice but shared experience is useful.

If I get an injury I want to hear from other people who also have had a similar injury. I’ll go from there.

Professionals are expensive. I get some kind of strain or injury just about every month. If I went to a doc each time I’d be broke.

I broke my collar bone two years ago. The docs said it would mend fully but everybody I spoke to who had the same break said it would never be 100% fixed, so I knew what to expect. The docs couldn’t tell me that.

I mean like the shin splints advice on the other post.
Everybody gets them when they start running. You don’t need to pay a doctor to tell you to stop running whilst the pain remains – and I guarantee that is what they will say.
Shin splits - like many complaints - although sore – are not a injury proper – so no need to over complicate things. Seeing a doc should be the last step not the first call.

You want to give some constructive criticism or ask a question then no problem. But I don't want any of this kind of rubbish again:

So.... Let's take the shin splints thread as an example. What is it that you think is wrong with the OP? Shin spints means "I have some pain in my shins". That could be caused by about 20 different things, including, for example, a blood clot. Now I'm taking an extreme example here to prove a point: When it hasn't been diagnosed by a professional you'll have people on here offering advice to do all sorts of things, some of which may be harmful. So that's it. You're not allowed ask for advice when there hasn't been a proper diagnosis.

Now if you've had a proper diagnosis and you're looking to hear from someone who has had the same condition we will let that slide. Have a look back through the forum.

Also, in future if you have a problem with the moderation of the forum the correct thing to do is to PM a moderator and / or take it to sys->feedback.
