Just wondering if anyone knows of any golf GPS apps in the Android Marketplace?

Especially if there was one with Irish courses available.

There is a GoPlanet Golf GPS app which I would assume has the Irish courses.
Not sure how much it is though for the full version

I tried "how far am I" You have to map courses yourself, straightforward process using Google maps. I've tried it twice, did not find it accurate. I ran "my tracks" during one of the rounds and when I viewed it back on Google maps either my phones gps is inaccurate or Google maps coordinates are. It was prob only 5m or so off, but I found with howfarami that the readings didn't make sense, while walking towards hole distance to green would get shorter and longer.

    Going to try skydroid next

I saw the skydroid one alright - looks nice. I find on my GPS navigation that there is a bit of diference between the location and the Google map sometimes. That would affect course maps built online.
Do you have to have the satellite imagery at top resolution to design the course online?

Sky droid does look good, if it works would have all the features I'd want and its only 75 cent.

I have no idea. I mapped a few courses and I'm pretty sure I was zoomed up enough for it to be relatively accurate. Like you said, I think Google map cordinates could be off which would result in poor accuracy.

I wish there was a program where you'd stand with your phone with GPS on and at front / middle / centre of green press a button to record position. In theory google maps route is great because you can do a course you've never played, but in reality it doesnt seem accurate. Some of the comments from people who used HowFarAmI say its great, dunno if thats from courses they've mapped themselves or from ones done properly from bbsgolf

Yeah you would think that plus an option to upload would be fairly straightforward app.

    Tried SkyDroid

Mapped a course myself, found it completely innacurate, then again that might have been from using google maps to plot the course, but anyway, doesnt work it seems

I'm using YourGolf , it's good because you can create an online profile on oobgolf.com.

ShotTracker is another I use to map my shots.
