He looks as though he is about to take his powerful motorbike for a speedy race along the streets. But this motorcyclist is going nowhere - he's dead.

This is grieving Puerto Rican-style, where the funeral home have put the body of David Morales Colon on display in what can only be described as a slightly bizarre way.

Rather than the traditional casket, Mr Colon, 22, who was murdered last Thursday, sits embalmed astride his Honda motorcycle.

Visitors, including children, file in to take pictures of the young man at the Marin Funeral Home in San Juan dressed in his typical biking gear, helmet included, on top of his beloved machine.

In 2008, the funeral home kept the embalmed body of a 24-year-old man standing throughout a wake that lasted three days. So at least Mr Colon has the luxury of sitting down.

This is just far too creepy....but what a way to go!

    A real life ghost rider.

What way would you want to be remembered?

At least he can't injure himself if he falls off. :p

The embalmers will have some job trying to straighten him out to place him back into his coffin.

I wonder how much the family are selling the bike for? I could do with a new one.

I'd be mortified if that was someone related to me.

    That's fairly creepy.

Any ideas why he was murdered?

I asked the local funeral parlour would they do something similar for me when I pass away but they told me to get stuffed.

dead right (no pun intended). also liked the way author Hunter S Thomson went out- when he died was cremated and the urn was attached to a rocket and blasted into the stratosphere.. brilliant

Some years ago there was a woman buried in her Ferrari in the US, I remember seeing it on Ripleys believe it or not, it was a Ferrari 250 GT too and the whole lot encased in concrete!

Think i'd prefere to be sitting on a bike at my own wake than standing!
I know i'd be dead and all, but still..

Remember in Jackass when Johnny Knoxville took an old lady into a Taxidermist enquiring about getting her stuffed and mounted for when she'd pass away!

How the hell did his family know thats what he wanted. Surely he didnt have a will
    at 22 years old?

That is slightly disturbing. Only slightly though.

Suppose its like when anybody dies suddenly, family just do what they think deceased would want?? Still some waste of a good bike though:rolleyes:. A bit extreme...
