Back running after baby

    Hi there,
Just wondering if any ladies have come accross this problem after giving birth. I used to run 4-5 times a week up until I got pregnant last year but for medical reasons I had to stop at 6 weeks. So I returned running when my baby was 6 weeks old, but after 2 weeks I had to stop because I was suffering so much pain with my knees. Just want to know if anyone else has had this problem and how long it can take to go?

    Thanks

Maybe you just need to ease into it a bit more slowly?
If you tried going back at or near the pace or mileage that you were at last year that would probably explain the knee thing somewhat?

Disclaimer: I am a man and have never been pregnant

My wife was told no running for at least 3 months as the bones are more bendy during and after pregnancy.

Talk to your midwife or doctor.

It's something to do with the pregnancy hormones making the joints and ligaments all soft and stretchy in preparation for the delivery. Your pelvis gets much looser - also your ribs will have moved up slightly to make room for the bump. That will all take time to get back to normal. So you may be injury-prone for a while, as tunney said, best to talk to your doctor
