Any other info regards when last spotted etc..:

A red Honda CRX was stolen this morning from Balbriggan between 1am - 6am. It looks like this car here http://adam.id10t.org/albums/hondastuff/red.jpg with the addition of a white honda emblem sticker spread half way across the bonnet and half way across the side wing.

This is the third time the thieving scumbags made an attempt at robbing it - and this time got it!

The was no battery in the car, so it may have been towed away or lifted.

    It's not your standard CRX:

    * It has a turbo
    * It has white wheels like these http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3625/...f4d1c466_b.jpg
    * It is a good bit lowered

If you spot this car then give me a shout, or even better, give the Gardai a shout!

Is this the one from Fancourt Heights? I'll keep an eye out for ya.

It also might be a good idea to swing by the North County Dublin forum and ask the mods can you put a notice up there, too.

It's sad to say, but according to the guards, there is a lot of stuff being stolen at the minute. Hope you get it back.

I always thought it was dormant and never driven. I hope you get it back it's a lovely machine.

Yeah, it's the one from Fancourt. I think there was no battery in it. So either it was towed\lifted, or they came prepared with battery (not my car btw - although they got mine two years ago  !!!).

Got the standard "sorry-to-hear-you-were-a-victim-of-a-crime" letter from the cops today, but nothing more than that. Not holding out any great hope at this stage, to be honest.

A mate of mine had his integra stolen last week from outside his house in greystones. Silver 94 D 1.8 VTEC the early DC3 round jap headlights with, silver OZ wheels and an original silver Type R rear wing(very rare). Also minus the battery, so the scum are defo resorting to towing or lifting cars now.

This is now the third non standard Honda in as many weeks Ive heard of being taken in this manner. 2 where outside their houses on the road and both were minus the batteries and hadnt moved for a while(low funds for tax insurance). Now the OP's mate makes 3 sans battery. I dunno if the OP's mates car was on the road or in the driveway though.

I figured that this MO would happen sooner or later. Its apparently quite common in the US. Hence I have a mercury tilt switch wired up to the alarm in the car. So if they try to lift it I'll be alerted and so help me...

It does look like they're been broken for spares more than for "joyriding" though?

Maybe a thread on here and in other forums of petrolheads with *Car stolen, Spares list* might be a plan so we can all look out for distinctive parts coming up at too good to be true prices? If so contact the guards?

Then again the latter is as much use as a chocolate tea pot Ive found. No offence to members of the Gardai reading but I have found in my experience car crime comes very low down on the list of priorities. I had a car stolen years back and retrieved it, but only cos I have mates who are in the force so found out where it was likely to be. I gather there are consistent enough places where they dump them for later use/strippage or for burn out. If I was a punter without those contacts and that info I'm pretty sure I'd never have seen it again.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

We had our car stolen October 2010.

The first attempt was 6 mos. earlier and broke the outside lock on the driver side overnight. The second attempt was witnessed by a neighbour who got the reg of the tow who lifted it during the day while I was at home and cleaning an upstairs bedroom that faced the street. There is so much construction going on around us that I didn't even look. The whole event took less than 2 minutes and they hauled it away. There was a brand new battery ready to replace the old one still used and my son's much-loved scooter in the trunk.

We had people coming up to our door for months asking if we wanted to sell it prior to its theft. It was the only way I had to get our child to school, and now I regularly have to pay a taxi to get him there which is usually late. It was old and ugly and not worth much but it was all I had. I also haven't been able to replace it, as it would raise the insurance too much if we had used the insurance to replace it.

The police spent more time telling us how we'd never see it again than they did taking any information. They said they knew who was behind it but there was nothing they could do. We got a letter regarding help for victims, but that was all we got.

I'd had a feeling it was going to happen and I'd tried to make my partner aware of it and start taking precautions like actually using the theft pole we have in our drive, but he thought I was being paranoid.

We live in the Knocklyon/Firhouse area and it was there the car was stolen.
