Hi all - I'm new here, so apologies if this is in the wrong place.

I started the Patrick Holford low GL eating plan and one of carbs he suggests is Nairns oatcakes.
They are very nice but pricey and hard to find - I'm in SA

They are brilliant as a mid afternoon snack. I have 2 with peanut butter especially if I've had a less than decent (filling) lunch and they also seem to reduce hunger pangs at suppertime which has to be a bonus! :D

Does anyone have a good sugar free oat cake recipe or another substitute suggestion?

can you use dried fruit and butter to make oat flapjacks? if not try oats and molasses (spelling?) it is essentially a sugar but very low gi and when you taste it you wont want to have much:D

Thanks for the response - I want to keep taste neutral so that I can choose the topping I use - but you have given me an idea to experiment with flapjacks (we call them crumpets) to make them low GI :)

You also reminded me of a Cottage Cheese Pancake recipe I'd forgotten I had.
It's high protein and very tasty if anyone is interested?

I did find an oat cake recipe on the net which isn't too bad - just a bit time consuming ....

You can make oat pancakes, which are quicker than heating up a oven etc. You can make them thick and put them in the toaster to heat, more discussion here
