What does the expression "the woods from the trees mean"?

It means nothing as you don't have the full expression...

The proper expression is "you can't get wood from a tree".

I always thought it was "don't put your wood in a tree". Wise words indeed.

The proper expression is "you can't get wood from a tree".

It depends on how long a dry patch you're having.

Isnt it can't see the wood for the trees

It means a person who is not able to see the big picture because they have been sidetracked by minor details.

    Thats my understanding of it

What does the expression "the woods from the trees" mean?
The expression "can't see the wood for the trees" refers to someone getting bogged down in detail and missing the main point.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

    Or a hornets' nest.

I'd be willing to bet that there's a Japanese/German smut series dedicated to precisely that!

Thats a good explanation of that expression.
It can also mean someone who is convinced that they know the solution or understand a situation, when in fact they are unaware of the real issues or what is really going on underneath their very eyes.

    http://www.woodfortrees.org/

It's really something to do with wood products and software.

    *Takes a closer look*

    Oh, right...

Always getting confused with "for" and "from".

    From www.usingenglish.com :

If someone can't see the wood for the trees, they get so caught up in small details that they fail to understand the bigger picture.

That's definitive. I mean, it's on the internent so it must be correct. Right?

It is? Maybe in the South Korean dialect it is Ban, my friend, but not in the good old Hiberno kind we tend to speak here.

Maybe if he got a peg leg made out of Wood from Trees he's have more of a chance...

    So nobody knows the meaning?

In fairness, Ban Ki Moon, that is a pretty insulting thing to say.

Many posters have illustrated their understanding of that expression, which is one of those ambiguous ones that can be interperted in many different ways, depending on the context of the conversation, the tone it was delivered in and how it was said.

If you cannot grasp any interpretation of its meaning, that is your problem, not anybody else's.

If his leg was made of wood, a bear would probably come out of the woods, tear it off, then the Pope would appear & take a big sh*t on it.
