I love free diving and snorkling. I have gone on various points such as canaries and mediterrian and free diving in lakes.

I have tried snorkling off the east coast and the visibility in the area was is quite poor and not worth snorkling in. I know that Dalkey Island in Dalkey South Dublin in and around the islands promises to be a good in spots for snorkling and I will heading out this weekend and hopefully post some underwater photos.

Does anyone know of any good spots to snorkle in ireland. I am interested in places near dublin also. If you do know of a spot, please try be specific as to where it is. I know someone will say Kerry but Kerry probably has several hundred kilometers of coastline, and finding that spot will be hard.

In Tenerife a good spot is El Peurtito ( calle del Peurtito ) just northwest of last Adeje exit off the autopiste.

Hi Pirelli not sure if I was tlaking to you in some of the diving forums or not but Mullaghmore is where we are based and is a very good spot for snorkelling either staright off the shore at the back of the pier head hotel to about 6-7m or go out to thumb rock for 20m+ all around the peninsula are spots that can be accessed depending on sea and weather. You need to be careful getting down to the rocks as some areas are steep and slippy. You can see some pics of the area on our page here www.freediveireland.com Mullaghmore is about 20-25mins from Sligo town which is about 2.5 hours from Dublin. if you make a weekend of it then a visit to st johns as was mentioned above is worthwhile. You may be able to get a boat accross about 20 mins or 1.5 hours by car but worth it.
