Saving programmes to computer

I have NTL DVR and want to save some of the stuff on the hard drive if I upgrade to HD. Anyone know how to save stuff to an Apple Mac if I want to keep stuff and maybe watch again in the future on tv? Thanks

Pretty sure that the programs are encrypted on the DVR. I remember people saying that if you connect the second SCART to a DVD recorder then you can burn to a DVD while you watch. Don't think that is what you want to do, but I think it's the only game in town.
