    Remember when- Heathers
This was a tough choice for me because I love that Band Of Horses song but LCD Soundsystem got my vote in the end. And it's one of the best videos I've seen in years!:D

And, Air - 'Sexy Boy'...? From 1998!? Eh... am I missing something?

I'm assuming it has been re issued or something. Read it was on a few soundtracks. And yeah a great single.

Villagers, just ahead of The National for me.

Very suprised at the low showing for the Doves. Very popular on Phantom at the moment.

That track by the National is fantastic! Never listened to them before but that's enough for me to get into them.

Glad to have you on board Rich Tea. High Violet their new album out in a week.

It's a very hard choice between Villagers and Band of Horses tbh. I only listened to The National - High Violet once and really like it, but I'm waiting on the original cd released next week before I give it a serious listen to. I'll go with to Band of Horses this time.

If anyone ever gets the chance to see Villagers live then go, you won't be disappointed. They're epic live.

Great to see the Villagers doing so well in the poll. Btw anyway know what the other guy from the Immediate is up to now.

Great to see the Villagers doing so well in the poll.

Great to see that video on youtube getting nearly 60,000 views too. Their recent appearance on Jools won't do them any harm either.

Was just him on Jools. Not sure what happened to the rest of the band

    Volcano ate them?

Conor has been doing most of his British shows solo for some reason.

The rest of the band probably went on the píss in London instead. I haven't even seen the video yet, but read somewhere that he was on Jools recently and just assumed the rest of the band would be with him. I must check it out now actually. :)

Its up on one of the threads. Have seen a bit of Jools lately and the one act that really impressed me was Laura Marling in terms of a live set. Was very impressed I have to say.

I probably read it here alright. Found the Jools video on youtube now and I'll check out the Laura Marling then. Great stuff.

Her full set over on the Laura Marling thread. Terrific stuff

Conor's performance on Jools was just amazing. I'm after watching it about five times already, it's so bloody good. 'Becoming A Jackal' is a superb song. Fair play to him.

I watched a few of the Laura Marling's sets too and she really is unreal and what a voice she has. 'Goodbye England' is just so beautiful and the older vid of her singing 'New Romantic' on Jools is just stunning. Her video release of 'My Manic and I' (here) is such great video and an amazing song. I must check out more of her stuff during the week. What a talent she is!

Was there a nominations thread at all..? I prob missed missed it so I'll vote for Villagers even though my favourite/most played song in April was this

Sorry Scien but went for Bloodbuzz Ohio because its the single being released off album.
As much as possible am trying to keep to songs which are either getting the most airplay or a lot of it as in Sexy Boy or forthcoming singles.
But afraid of Everyone may a future single from that album. Great line that. I dont have the drugs to sort it out.

I think I missed it as well

This is "the song that SOTS heard for the first time during April" thread. No need for nominations. SOTS you some man for rules. :)
Seriously, Sexy Boy was probably played by one DJ or on one station last month.
Anyways, your thread. Do as you please. Only saying is all.

    Surprised this wasn't mentioned though:

I've never warmed to Biffy Clyro. Don't know what is about them but they've never managed to excite me at all.

Think youll find the last few polls have been very good. Again i do it on airplay which is a good sign. Take a look at previous polls and all the songs I have chosen have polled pretty well.
Terrible love from last poll was a live song and as it happened the album version is nothing like it.
But left the song in all the same.

tbh, I've really only come across them in the last few months. I like they're last two or three singles. Haven't checked out their older stuff yet. I'm just surprised that song wasn't mentioned. Thought they were a few fans of them in here.

Yes its not bad but not great either. PM me with a song you have in mind for next month and Ill throw it in. Again it helps if you have heard the song of radio. So any songs you fancy at moment can go into next month.

Well the amount of songs that you have chosen, some of them are bound to poll well :pac:
I wasn't dissing your taste of music btw, some of the songs you have posted were alright.

Slim chance I'll nominate a song I've heard on the radio. I don't really listen to the radio that often as most of what is played is poppy chart bullsh!t. There are obviously one or two exceptions. Maybe a certain show or DJ that gets one hour a night or whatever.

Just an idea but how about starting a thread now for May, where people can add nominations, and add a poll to it at the end of the month?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,082 ✭✭✭✭Spiritoftheseventies

    Ellie Goulding- Guns and Horses
Yeah Ill give people a bit more time but in an all honesty the two songs leading here were always going to be the two songs leading. Seven songs by the way is a pretty small selection by the way. Yeah will leave thread open for a week and then put up poll after next time.

Okay folks now taking nominations for next month so you have two weeks to get your songs in. In a generous mood at the moment so will probably throw in wash away your stone by Mumford and Stones to begin with. An

Anway the Opening track Tell em taken from "Treats" from Sleigh bells a very strong candidate but album available to stream on NPR.

How is Band of Horses - 'Compliments' only after getting one vote (me)? The videos on youtube seem to be of very bad sound quality and don't do the song any justice at all. But you can listen to the song and watch the official video here. You can also download it for free for even better sound quality.. all legal and compliments of the band. :) This is the single of the year for me, no question. Class song.
