Hi there, I am posting on behalve of someone else, They have a son that is turning 18 this week meaning thier child benefit will stop, He is still at school as he is re-taking his leaving cert, he is still living at home and is hoping to go to collage in sept. Hi there, I am posting on behalve of someone else,

They have a son that is turning 18 this week meaning thier child benefit will stop, He is still at school as he is re-taking his leaving cert, he is still living at home and is hoping to go to collage in sept. Now what they are wondering is what is he entitled to? Rent sup? JSA? if anything.

He cannot apply for JSA as he isnt seeking work. If he dosent go to college in september he could apply for JSA and be means tested. He wouldnt be entitled to rent supplement if he is living at home. If he does go to college he could apply for a maintenance grant which is also means tested.
