Active 55 - Glucosamine / Omega 3 - Projoint Formual - Gimmick or Useful

What are people's opinions on Active 55 Projoint Formula and Glucosimine and Omega 3 tablets in general?

I have had cartilage removed from my knee twice and was told seperately by two people that these tablets are amazing. One elderly woman I know couldnt play golf and now can - she puts it down to these tabs and my brother-in-law swears by Glucosamine and Omega 3 in general and these tablets in particular.

    Are these gimmicks? Placebos?

They are not cheap and are they worthwhile so?

How long would you need to be taking them to notice anything?

    Thanks

Had cartilage keyhole surgery done myself actually. I take high strength glucosamine and cod liver oil every day and started doing that when I took up running properly. Have never had any injuries. Do they work? Don't know, could be a placebo. Cost me around €20 a month. Boots 3 for 2.

I don't know about the formulation of the brand you mentioned but there is a significant body of evidence supporting the beneficial effect of the ingredients. Will they make my 97 year old granny into Paula Radcliffe, no, but they should do some good.

+1. Chondroiton is claimed to repair joint damage. I feel much better when I'm on it. I don't believe that this is a placebo effect though.

Don't tempt fate.....I used to say that...Then :eek::eek:! I think when I say things like that, the Man Above has a cruel sense of humour and say "Hmmm...we'll see about that!!" I still rekon He looks out for me though. :)

    This product also contains Chondroitin.

It is Seven Seas, Active 55 Projoint Formula

Up to 800mg of Omega-3, also contains 250mg Glucosamine, 200mg Chondroitin, Vitamin D, E, K, and C, Calcium, Amino Acids and Minerals.

Thanks for opinions, any more info out there?

Think I will give them a shot, can't hurt I suppose.

Don't forget, as mistyfloyd said above, Boots do 3 for price of 2.

Also take CoEnzyme Q10 and Sea Kelp along with Omega 3/6 & Glucosamine but as Misty pointed out do they work/make a difference. I have noticed that I seem less tired compared to when I missed taking them for a few days but that's probably all in the head !!
