tethering

    hey can anyone let me know what the story is with tethering? im with meteor on 3.1.2 jailbreak with blackrain. i have searched on boards lots of people talking about it but not many people saying they have been successful.
    any info would be a appreciated

    bought MyWi via RockApp, for $9.99.
    It enables both:
    1. Internet Tethering
    2. Sharing 3G Connection over Wifi (ala Joikuspot for Nokia)

    I used it for both functions last weekend in Cork & Limerick, worked great!

    Geohot (The guy who bought us PurpleRa1n & BlackRa1n) has got a Tethering solution but is holding off until the 4.0 release of the iphone software (check his blog @ http://iphonejtag.blogspot.com/)

    Sorry to kind of hijack the thread but is it possible to tether if your iphone isn't jail broken?

    I'm with O2 and I think paying them an extra €10 p/m for it is a joke.

    yup, i'm on 02, and unjailbroken, and used tethering last weekend for first time. i am on the original 1g/month doanload limit, which means i can use tethering for free up to my 1gig limit. if you are on the new unlimited plan you have to pay for every byte downloaded.

    just switch on tethering in settings and connect laptop to iphone with the usb cable and it takes care of everything else

    Try using just the free trial for MyWi. After the trial is up you wont be able to use the iphone as a wifi router, but the tethering should still be available (by bluetooth or cable).

    That said, for miserable $10, MyWi would defo be worth it if you plan to tether a lot. Great app!
