Shia & Sunni mosques

This thought just occurred to me the other day as I was driving by a number of mosques - is there physically any difference between a Sunni and a Shia mosque? As in, is the internal any different, the external construction, or any other physical differences?

I think I have a basic understanding the theological differences between the two - I liken it to Protestant/Catholic for simplicity and there is a difference between a Catholic and Protestant church.

(incidentally, I visited the Grand Mosque here in Bahrain a while back and I honestly have no idea if it was a Sunni or Shia mosque, or indeed if there is a difference)

    Just curious. :)

Dont know any difference from the outside but one difference on the inside is that shia pray on sand. they make bags and mats in different shapes and pray on them.
