Career will always be marred by the 08 dive, great player but never really came across as a nice guy.

Just looked up www.kerrygaa.ie and found the following:

    Aidan O'Mahony takes time out

    PostDateIcon.pngTuesday, 27 April 2010 18:48 |
The Chairman of Coiste Chontae Chiarraí, Jerome Conway, issued the following statement:
"Aidan O'Mahony has taken time out from the Kerry Senior Football Panel for personal reasons."

I seem to remember that he got 'man of the match' in one All Ireland final. To me he has been carrying a bit too much weight in recent years and has been off the pace. Wouldn't have the same personality as a Seamus Moynihan though.

Thing he struggled the last couple of seasons and looked really off the pace in the recent league games he played. Had a couple of good seasons though.

Bulked up too much in order to slip into the centre back position imo was fantastic on the wing in his debut season though, hopefully we'll see him again in the future.
    rats from a sinking ship

I take it you know alot about the young fellas coming through in the Kerry setup so yes??

And on what basis would you make this statement?

kennelly and walsh gone down under, murphy and o'se off playing bingo somewhere and now o'mahoney drops away again, could kerry be taking their place amoungst the mortals?

Not with some of the players they've been priming for the past few years:

Goals: - Kealy in goals is a fantastic keeper and showed it during the league imo and Mac an Tsaoir as backup who's very accomplished

    Defence:
could be a problem tbh but there's players like Colin O' Mahoney, Daniel Doyle, Daniel Bohane, Aidan O'Shea readily available with Podge O'Connor, Jonathon Lyne and numerous other young fellas streaming through.

Midfield: David Moran and Anthony Maher have been patiently waiting for championship action the past two years or so and have been slowly brought in, with Johnny Buckley coming through and O' Sullivan - Morans partner in midfield on the all ireland winning u-21 team still in reserve.

Up Front: Colm Cooper, Donnaghy, Declan O'Sullivan, Galvin - would waltz on any county team and have another good few years left in them. While Tommy Walsh has gone to oz his brother, who has the potential to be a much better overall footballer imo, has stayed around. Paul O' Connor, Darran O' Sullivan, Brian Sheahan.....I could go on and on tbh

Overall I think its fair to say that Kerry are fairly covered with a strong panel for the next while - the only problem I see them having is players on the panel who've been there for a number of years have a lot of footballing done and mileage built up, bar that I wouldn't be too worried

He Broke up with the long term missus, went on the tear and missed the flight to the training camp along with one of the other players.

Jack rang them on the morning and told them to get the next flight. The other player did. Aidan didn't. Was subsequently dropped for the game against Monaghan. Looks like he's going to take more time to get his head straight.

Great player. MOM in 2006 All Ireland Final. Can't see him coming back this Summer.

As sure as the grass is green, Kerry will always be strong. Even during their famine (86-97) they were always dangerous and never too far away from an All Ireland. Only silly people would write them off over a couple of players leaving the panel, there's always another up and coming talent to take their place.

They only got out of Munster twice during 86-96 and were hammered by cork in 1990 and beaten by clare in 92.all irelands were not on the agenda until uncle paidi (of all people) came along.

you should read princes of pigskin about spillanes opinion of oige moran after losing the 95 munster final.yerra twas fierce altogether as they say in kerry.

As for machoman.fine player who peaked around 2006.fell dramaticallly after the controversy of 2008 imo.still laughing over as smoothness personified/housewives fave dara o cinneide put it aidan "probably disputing the territories between ballydesmond and rathmore there".Greg Louganis must be worried about his records now that the 2012 olympics is on the way.

Ive said before that I dont think that this kerry team is worthy of second golden era status but along with st paul, declan o'sullivan, star, marc o'se, seamus scanlon they won a lot more than many people in kerry thought and for that they are worthy of some respect i suppose.

anyway beting the s""""" out of stephen kelly in 2004 aside i say through gritted teeth (im not jealous or begrudging in any way) well done aidan o'mahony.4 all irelands.some going.

im amazed that im having to make a case for him here as a limerickman.even high priests of the kerry taliban (im looking at you tony leen.) didnt say much about him in the papers today.Where are the kerry lads around here offering thanks.

    Rats from a sinking ship...

As much as its pains me to say...thats a load of bollocks!

So Kerry have lost a few players, looks who is left...they still have some of the best footballers in the country.

Write them off at your peril i say!

And you can be sure there'll be no intercounty manager in his right mind writing them off this year.

    EDIT: Rebels for sam!

We'll leave that to kerry lads and a certain legend with fianna fail tendencies."yerra sure tis mayos to lose, leitrim would have to be taken seriously, new york and london are flying, i didnt think kerry would win the all ireland against kilkenny"

No county could loose such good player other then Kerry.

Kerry are still strong team this year. There be there again come August at very least. The only question I have about them is there hunger. If they still have it then they be unreal tough to beat again.
