Right lads, im trading in a 00 Merc E320 estate with about 120,000 miles up. Its got lots of kit, full leather, TV in the dash etc etc etc.... I drove it before I did the deal and it drives perfect. The cruise works, the autobox changes perfect , all the electric gizmos seem to work but I haven't got a chance to check them all. Good bit of test left and some tax to boot. The only thing I noticed is an airbag light on the dash. Now this might be a block connector under the seat but it also might be a computer of some sort thats shot. Anyway if you guys know anything about them then please fill me in on what im looking out for, both good and bad please. Its coming at me so cheap that I really am tempted to put the good lady into it for a while.

    Thanks in advance :)

Not much good but the lads here http://forums.mercedesclub.org.uk/index.php
are unbelievably helpful and knowedegable, if it wasn't for them I don't know how I would have gotten my W124 through the NCT, well I do, would have had to pay some chap a good few hundred :)

Pretty worthless yokes tbh but value for money if your into that kind of car, high road tax too remember. It's really worth no more the 1200-1400 euros and watch out for gearbox problems.

Yeah it'll be coming under a grand, like if I put it in the bin a year from now so what!

It seems to have had a really easy life and thats whats attracting me to it. It really is some smoker :) I've had a couple of 200's and 280's but I know nothing about the 320. The W124's were bomb proof but the later ones were like Chrismas trees so many lights stayed on :p

God forbid anyone else but yourself having an opinion;)

At that price one repair could be worth more than the car, bit it really is a lot of car for the money. I'd imagine it's worth that in parts if it does all go t1ts up, especially a high spec one.

My uncle drives a 2001 E200K at the mo and it's killing him on repair bills. It gets little use but too. I believe the E320 has 2 cats - and they aint cheap and a common enough failure. He also has quite a lot of small rust spots starting to come out around the car. Alloys are showing corrosion too on the coating. The interior isn't wearing the relatively low mileage (.90k) too well but that could be due to young kids.

He has been lucky not to have any major electrical gremlins with his.

Happy days so! Thats a big worry on them once they get to that age. Probably put a fair few to the crusher I'd imagine.

If it checks out ok otherwisr then why not. Thats a huge amount of metal for very, very small money

If the cats are perfect and it's reasonably rust free then that is some car for the money.

It would be a real shame to see that go to the crusher, it's not like it's a poverty spec E200 with no leather or a/c, that wouldn't be worth saving, a big engined one with all the toys and the cats have been replaced most certainly is worth keeping:)!
