I heard recently the AAI games are in Castleisland in Kerry this year and am wondering does anyone know what it's like down there? Cannot understand why it isn't going to be in Athlone I.T. again as they have a world class Mondo track and it's a central location.

Great setup down there, nice track but a very, very long way away for the majority of athletes in the country. Its smack in the middle of 3rd level exam time, smack in the middle of schools season and those who might attend (leaving cert age) will be busy studying and as a result I'd imagine we will have very few travel down who are outside of the south-west. Even from the midlands it is a bit of a trek.

All for spreading events around the country, but I won't be supporting it or none of the athletes I coach will be attending as there is no garauntee of good fields and to lift off training even for a bit for it could end up being a waste of time. Many I have spoken to are of the same thinking.

Bad decision to choose it as a venue for an event that is (supposedly) used to gauge selection for the European Team Championships.
