    Hi,
I have recently realised that i have been claiming rent relief for about 18 months while also claiming mortgage interest relief. For some reason i just thought that as soon is i claimed mortgage interest relief, revenue would stop the rent relief.:( I now realise i should have informed them when i bought my house that i did not need it. Will i have to pay them back when i ring to tell them the situation? I think the rent relief is about 3 euro a week which would add to 234 that i owe them. Anyone got any experience in this? Thanks

Just ring them and let them know. They will just adjust your tax credits over the rest of the year so it balances out.

The sooner you do it, the better it will be.
