David Brent has moved to Ireland and is working at RE&D

Anyone read the story in this week's Phoenix about the managing editor at the Indo's out-sourced sweat-shop, RE&D, and his so-called 'sense of humour'?

This 'no-nonsense hack' apparently thought it was appropriate to label one of his subs a 'pedo' in an email sent to everyone in the office.

In the past he's given other poor subs working there such charming nicknames as 'bastard' and 'anus'.

This 'joker', who's from Yorkshire, thinks this all jolly good fun and that his 'jokes' help improve the atmosphere in the office. And here's me thinking that the David Brent parody from The Office had put an end to such nonsense. Obviously not.

After two decades of working in newsrooms in Ireland and Britain, I thought I had seen it all. And there was a time when the big beasts of the newsroom could make a poor hack's life hell if they felt so inclined.

    But calling someone a 'pedo'?

I hope the sub concerned sues his fecking arse off.
