    Hi,
I bought a 2002 skoda fabia in feb which is now not starting. I got a three month warranty. I rang them up and they say they'll look at it but that I'd have to pay to get it there myself. Is this right?
If so, is 50 euro a reasonable price (distance of about 2 miles).

    Thanks.

What happens when you turn the key, does it turn over ? Do the wipers work strongly, may be the battery.

Look in the warranty booklet, it'll tell you exactly what's covered.

I haven't come across anywhere that covers the cost of recovery under warranty.

€50 is pretty much a standard local fee, anything less from the likes of the ones you see advertising "€40 anywhere in the county of Dublin" I would not advise you to use, because at that price I doubt very much they have the insurance to cover them if anything was to happen your car while on the back of their lorry.

The fact that the car isn't starting so therefore won't drive it would be classed as winch assisted recovery.

It's not the battery. It happened twice yesterday. The second time I rang the AA and the guy reckoned it was a misfiring coil.

On the invoice it just says "3 Months Engine and Gearbox". There's terms and conditions on the back then with a section devoted to the warranty but it doesn't mention what is or isn't covered, just stuff like the warranty is void if the car is repaired by someone else without their permission.

So, presuming this is normal practice, is 50 euro a normal price for a tow?

    Cheers. Very informative.

Just wasn't expecting it so was a bit miffed when he said I'd have to pay it!

OK, so does anyone know a reputable tow person in the dublin 12 area?

Ask the dealer who they use to bring in customers cars & ask them for the numbers. Best chance of getting a more local one & getting a price of €50-€70. Further away from you they are in the D12 area higher the price.

why not throw a towing rope on and bring it yourself, if its only 2 miles, could save yourself 50e, although you may have to throw the tower a few quid for the help ;)

If your towing on a busy stretch the guards will do ya, if your on a quiet road with feck all pedestrians or traffic only going a couple of miles to get the car home they will allow it at their own discretion. Had that confirmed with a couple of Guards before

Just as an update to this, I eventually realised that my insurance had roadside assist and was able to get it towed by them.

Just rang the garage and they are saying that it happened because the key dropped the code*. The first time this happeded though I was able to re-start the car after a few tries. If the key had dropped the code then surely it wouldn't have re-started at all?

*The phrase was something similar to that. Apologies if I've gotten the terminology wrong.
