hay just wondering is there any good snipers that would roughly shoot 50 yards and accurate.don't mind if it doesn't shot that all that matter is it having a hop up or something like it and it has to have a spring that i can change to a stronger one and it has to be lower than 100 maybe 150.

To be honest, at that price range, they're most likely going to be poor. Poor accuracy and distance anyway, build quality depends on the manufacturer.

With a cheapy sniper, your gonna need a new precision barrel, ~30 -70 quid, depending on brand. Would also benifit from a whole new hop up, or the rubber at least. These two things should make your accuracy a whole lot better.

As for changing the spring... Well, I'm presuming you know that the legal velocity limit here is 1 Joule (~330FPS). Most of the snipers in Ireland have to be downgraded to be legal in this country, so most of them are spot on .98 or .99 of a Joule. So basically, if you change the spring to a more powerful one, you're most likely going to be looking at an illegal airsoft, which is NOT good news.

    Any other questions?? :D

I presume thats a typo. Its 328 FPS with a .2 gram bb.

Why do you want a sniper rifle? Anything you get in that price range would be just for plinking, unless you get the Styer SSG. . They are suppose to be ok. But accurate at 50 yards. Proubley not. :)

Dont think anyone would have flipped over 2 FPS to be honest...
Im not saying they would have, but even if its over 2 FPS its still considered illegal.
I just wanted to let the OP know that the legal limit is 328 and not 330, we wouldnt want someone new to the sport (or maybe hes not new) thinking the legal limit is 330 wether its only 2 fps or not :)

The legal limit is 1 Joule. No mention of FPS.

Ive been told, by a very large and reputable Dublin based airsoft shop that 328FPS is put out there to give you a 5% error margin, and apparently 340FPS would be closer to 1 Joule. Just what I was told.

Not that id have to worry about it, my airsofts must be a bit sick or something lately, the hardest hitter I have is my P90 as 305FPS... :(

Well anyone on here, id say can assure you that the legal limit is 328 fps.
Anyway, this is way off topic so im going to leave it at that.

Stephen, you're one of those people who think fps is everything, aren't you?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,551 ✭✭✭swiftblade

This is getting a bit off topic. The FPS will vary depending on the weight of bb used. 328 FPS with a .2 gram bb :)

Dont get you man, what do you mean?

Even though my P90 is only ~305, it'll outrange many airsofts firing right on the limit, so the FPS dont really bother me. Not enough to do more upgrades anyway! Is that what you were getting at?

(Didnt know you were a fellow guitarist mate, I just seen your Ibanez in the instruments section!) :D

Oh, and if your gonna call me by my first name, you may tell me yours! :)

You're so intent on your point about 1 joule, that you come across as one of those people who need their AEGs right at 327.999999999fps.
To go back on topic, OP, if you're looking for a decent sniper rifle check out the JG Bar-10, lovely rifle and very light.
My name is somewhere around the forum...

Dont see where you got that idea from, mine are nowhere near 327.999999Fps...

But yeah, back on topic, I can only recommend the Steyr SSG!
I had one, bog standard, and it was fine, especially for 90 notes. Did tend to shoot a bit randomly left or right at times tho...

well L96 never a problem just outside the price range at 180E and also firing just under the 1j mark.

with mine i have consistant 316fps with .20 BB

And one joule being legaly 328fps not 330fps with any percent leeway

"Okay. Sorry about this. But guys, you're breaking the part of my heart that thinks that people know about physics.

One Joule is NOT 328 feet per second.

A Joule is a measure of energy, not speed. "

As taken from the sticky. Sparks understands me at least... :(

(I study Physics in college, so Id hope that I would have a better grasp on it than the average joe)

Yes, you are correct. But 1 Joule is equal to 328 FPS with a .2 gram bb. If you used lets say a .23 gram bb, it would not be 328 FPS. :)

*Backs away and waits for a mod to lock* ;)

Look up the JG Bar 10. I've heard nothing but good reviews, and hope to be getting one myself in the near future. I've heard awful things about the SSG...basically that they're a pile of cack, and shouldn't be touched with a barge pole. Some people love them, but I've read a lot more bad than good.

PS: Legal limit is the LIMIT. It doesn't matter if you're a teeeeny tiny bit over. You should be under the limit enough to account for external changes (such as climatic factors improving the performance of your AEG) in your environment. Aiming for 310 fps with .2g BB is probably the safest bet, so that no matter what changes, you're sorted.
