Can't decide on a running technique

I find myself changing my technique, doing things such as,bending my knees more, which in turn leads me to relax my hips, which makes it feel like I'm just stepping up steps, kind of like fast walking in the Olympics.
    I run around 12kmph.

Why do you change your technique? Why not just do whatever feels most comfortable?

I just feel I need to find the correct way to run and I'm not sure which way is the correct and optimal way. What feels right to me, could be the wrong way though. What are things I should be doing? At the moment I keep my back straight and land on the balls of my feet which I know is correct.Other than that, I'm not quite sure.

Digme, you'll get general comments on here but only a good coach can appraise what is best for you personally by observation.

For what it's worth you sound like you have a similar sort of 'style' to me which I find reasonably efficient (in my slowpoke way) and certainly low-risk in terms of potential injury.

But certainly you might read up on Chi, Pose & Alexander which all have their supporters.

You could also have a look at this article from Runners World.
It was posted up here before by Amadeus I think
If you ignore the contradictory photo up the top the rest seems to make sense

I'd also give a thumbs up to the Catriona McKiernan Chi running class. While you might want to change your style, it's not easy to discover what exactly the problem is. It may also be that you think you've improved your style but you've introduced other problems which could flare up down the line.
In my case I used to have problems with my calves which Catriona McKiernan put down to my running style. She then bought us for a run and was pretty relentless in pointing out what was wrong and how to change it. After that it's a case of trying to do this all the time - not easy after a lifetime learning to run badly! It's all worked for me though - am now about 18 months injury free and my times are still dropping:)
