Had seen this alright,, had a read through the basics of it and the responsibilities that the position comes with. The only thing that might bother me about it is point number three on the list you have linked to

-Taking possession of lands and houses on foot of Court Orders including, ejectment of persons in occupation

Would you be a glorified baliff in other words? Interesting position never the less.

According to the Enforcement of Court Orders Act 1926, that exactly what you'd be -

"A court messenger executing or assisting in the execution of an execution order in pursuance of a warrant duly issued to him under this section shall have all the powers which would be vested by law in a bailiff employed by an under-sheriff for that purpose".

I've been working in a solicitor's firm for the last fourteen years and I have yet to come across a case where goods are seized from a debtor after judgement has been obtained. I've often wondered whether the Sheriff even calls to the debtor to try and seize goods! On the issue of ejectment of a person, I'd imagine the Gardai would accompany the messenger.

I know someone that has this job but in a different area and normally it's a retired Garda or Sargent but it's open to anyone. Its a long interview process but a great job to get.Partly in office and out of office.

No it's totally different to the revenue, they'll only take possession after all the court process and normally keys are handed over before it gets that far. I'd expect a lot of applicants.

They don't want the hassle of trying to collect and sell the goods and most secondhand goods are worthless

    Yes they do
