My wife's JSB is up in September (12 months)

What are the options open to us as a couple at this stage?

Does she go on to JSA are we means tested are payments reduced or worse still does she get nothing!

    Thanks in advance.

It depends on your circumstances. If the jobseekers benefit runs out and she is still available for and looking for work she can apply for allowance. This is a means tested payment so any income, capital etc will be assessed.

    Hi Carol,

Im working, we have a house and a small amount of savings. What is the ceiling on savings before they penalize you? Would there be any website where I could see examples of different cases?

    Thanks again for your help.

go to www.citizensinformation.ie and you will find out. I think savings up to 20,000 are not counted

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.
