    Hi there,

I have a copy of Win7 installed on a partition of a laptop and i want to install it on a desktop soon. If i go to reinstall Win7 on another machine it says its installed elsewhere.

How do i uninstall it so that i can reinstall it on another machine. I want to free up the licence i'd imagine basically.

Guessing here (MS Support would be best placed to advise) - I don' think you can do it. The licence key for the copy you have gets married a particular PC on the MS side when you run WGA (or whatever the new version of this is).

That said, if you called MS & explained, I am sure they'd remove the DB entry on their side and that would allow you to reinstall it.

    Hi Verres,

I was having a look here but its not clear at all, and i dont want to try and do anything until i know it will work.

Is there a phone number in Ireland for Microsoft support, there doesn't seem to be any direct contact with them anywhere. Its very restrictive if it is the case that i cant uninstall on one machine and reinstall on another.

Thats weird. I have a legit version of ultimate on 4 machines and no messages. Each updates with no problems. What version are you using?
