Gait Analysis in Cork

    Hello,

I'm currently training for the Cork marathon and soon enough I'll need to change my runners. For my last 4 pairs of runners I've always bought Nike Pegasus, but because of recent injuries I'd like to make sure that I'm wearing the right runner for my feet.

I've noticed that Mahers on Oliver Punkett St. are offering free 'foot analysis' there and I've also heard that the Edge Sports Shop on North Main St. offer Gait analysis too (though I'm not sure if they charge a fee or not).

Could someone recommend a good place to go? Somewhere with a good range of running shoes and brands on offer. I'm not originally from Cork and The Edge, Mahers and Buckleys are the only stores I know that stock specialist running shoes.

    Thanks!

Got it done it The Edge and it was grand, they recommended the same runners as John Buckleys did (they just looked at my feet when sitting and standing, not sure if they do the whole video gait analysis now).

To be honest I wouldn't bother going anywhere besides the two above for gait analysis. When I went to The Edge they included the price of the gait analysis in the price of the runners. Also if you are buying more than one pair at a time ask for an additional discount.

Cost? Did you find it worthwhile? Did they recommend a specific brand of runner to buy?

it was free when i did it 2 years ago. I got gel orthotics at the time (my runners were new already but I was having very bad shin/calf pains following long runs). they fixed my problem anyway.
