Wow, he's intense! Is he right at 6:57 when he says that no Nazis were ever excommunicated by the Catholic Church? Hitchens certainly disagrees with him; see 0:57 below.

Wikipedia was a bit vague, but it certainly doesn't mention excommunication (or at least I couldn't find 'exco' with CTRL F!)

"Goebbals was excommunicated for marrying a Protestant...Prayers were said for Hitler on his birthday until the very end."Heh,would'nt surprise me with that racket.

Considering he does not exist, I doubt it.

    Jew hatred = bad

    Catholic hatred = good

Good to know. I almost hated the wrong group there.

And @ 6:16 he's back, the German we all love to cite, Adolf 'Die Fuhrer' Hitler. He's the kookie National Socialist that adds gravitas to everyone's argument.

Contempt for (corrupt) religious organisation ≠ hatred of Catholics

Nobody here hates Catholics I'm sure. Hhmm lets put it another way. Do you support the Irish soccer team but hate the FAI? Do you love Ireland but hate the current Irish government? That's the difference.

I don't think I like this guy... is he supposed to be funny?

Yeah,it's a bitter sweet, sardonic sense of humour. Personally,I like him. A sense of lost idealism type cynicism. He's got a DVD on sale. It was advertised on Dawkins net.

This is a rather blatant strawman.

What you're referring to as "Catholic hatred" is a series of historical facts and an attitude of disapproval for the awful behaviour of the institution of the Catholic Church. It also says nothing about the average Catholic lay person.

Hatred of the Jews has historically been focused on lies, propoganda and hysterical hate mongering, and was very much indiscriminately directed at the innocent average Jewish person.

To conflate the two is quite intellectually dishonest.

    Ouch.

    Apparantly, ultimate evil = Christian.

Maybe I'm sensitive but I would judge that as hatred. It's certainly not love or neutrality.

Given that he clearly doesn't believe in Satan, we can take his title a little lightly. Also, the title is a reference (as he explains in the video) to this recent news story, which reports on the Vatican's chief exorcist's claim that "the Devil is at work inside the Vatican".

Yes, you're being sensitive. Also, as Colm said, there's little point in taking any references to Satan by Pat Condell particularly seriously.

I just read both the articles on Goebbels and his wife nothing about excommunication... but an interesting read...

EDIT: further reading would indicate that he was indeed excommunicated....
The Goebbels wedding was fixed for December 19, 1931. As a divorcee and convert
to protestantism, Magda could not marry under the rites of the catholic church.
Goebbels’ plea to the bishop of Berlin for a waiver was denied. Marrying as a protestant,
he would be excommunicated. ‘He thereupon saw no further reason to pay
their church tax,’ said Hitler years later, mocking the church’s hypocrisy. ‘But the
church informed him that excommunication … did not affect the obligation to pay
    up as before.’

2nd EDIT: great, now I'm reading a bloody biography of Goebbles... stupid internet... I wanted to get to bed early.

I like the guy. He say's what I think without the over the top rant that seems to happen when I open my mouth. Not sure about his allegiance to the UKIP though.

No, that would just be too convenient for you, hence your need to impose that image onto people.

He is a bit smug. He wants peace according to the end of his vids but he also seems to want Britain for the British if his support for UKIP is anything to go by. Perhaps he wouldn't have excommunicated Hitler if it was up to him back then too.

I watched his videos for a while. He started out as a sort of vaguely unfunny contrarian, but his views seem to have been increasingly close to racism (yes, I know his defence of that, and I don't buy it). I'm also pretty uncomfortable with the assurance with which he declares that he speaks for everyone.

I've seen him getting close to racism too. Never really liked him, he's just too angry and loud. If Dawkins is strident, I'd love to know what word to call this guy.

Anyone have a link to one of the racist vids?

I kind of stopped watching his stuff after the first couple he made... There's only so much ranting about Islam a 'comedian' can do before it gets really old.
