    Hi guys,

I am new on the classic car business but very enthousiast :D.

Just to give you a idea of my crazyness, I have 3 924 for restoration at the moment, and one doner car and it is the first time that I am doing this.

So now you know I am a bit crazy.

So I will need to refurnish seat of my cars, but I heard price like €300 one. so I will let you doing the math, the result is too pricy for me.

So I am thinking do them myself well with the help of somebody which can sew.

So I am wondering if it is possible to buy the seating part and back part (the kind of sponge material) and then the pattern?

I suppose it will be possible to create the pattern based on the existing seat cover.

Anybody see what I am taking about?

    Cheers
    Superfly

I agree it is the bast bet, but he can be hard to find.
Sometime I have seen on ebay.co.uk some interior but ostage will be the killer. :(

If you hear about a nice interior or any idea where I could find one or 3 don't hesitate. :)

Nothing wrong with learning a new skill if you want to ,when you have perfected it you can do my upholstry too:).
You'll need someone with a heavy duty industrial sewing machine.
    something like this http://www.donedeal.ie/for-sale/tools/1273697

You can buy the seat covers and fit them (I remember Ed in Wheeler Dealers fit
seat covers on a car before, think was an MG, was within the reach of a DIYer).

However, these covers are for a Porsche and not an MG, try not to cry....

Pelican Parts in the USA sell the seat covers for 924/944/968 cars.

    Link here.

    Yep, those are the prices.
Those are individual seats too, not per pair!
Doesn't look any better in dollars does it?

You would be better off to get a donor interior from another car if possible, try:

    eBay (mixed bag)
Douglas Valley (they have nearly EVERY 944 in the UK at this stage, but expensive)
    Frankhill
    Porsch-Apart (quite good)

Also try the PCGB forums, there's always a guy or two on there making a 924 trackcar,
and they sell on the interior.

One of the chaps on here has two 924`s that are for up for parts, I think the interiors were intact. Do you have any photos of your 924? My 924 is in the post a photo of your classic.

    Hi Lightning,
Do you know by any chance the username of that fella as i will be very interested by a full interior!!

For the pics, I will do it at home tonight.

Yeah that's sound very interesting to me.
The whole project I am doing is about learning, so it sounds like it could be doing the trick.
It will obviously be more cost effective than ask somebody to do it. ;)

I have also to learn body work (painting, welding...), and a bit of mechanic. :pac:

Well I am good at taking picture I can tell you that ;)
The right door car is good for the bin so as the right seat, the foam is gone and the rest obviously.

For the speaker, they were not on the car when I got it (a_v525 are you a member of porsche924.co.uk I think your alias is familiar to me :-))

I more less got this car for 3 reason, the color and year 1980 and the non sunroof.

Other then that the car need serious work, the engine is broken the ex-owner dropt a piece of file in the engine via the spark plug hole....
That did not do any good to it....

if only I knew it before starting it up....

Lookin nice Lightning! Lucky your dash seems to have suffered any cracks, I'd be embarassed to show you mine :o

Yeah superfly, mine also has no sunroof, I much prefer it. We dont really get much Vitamin D over here

Did you ever get that 70s 924 with the mitsubishi diesel engine running? Thast project sounded really interesting when I read it on the oc.

Well she runs but the steering is no good :-)

I have to say I might try to fix it one day, but my heart really go for restore it for start to finish including the refit of a petrol engine.

The car was actually never driven on the road with this engine based on the last owner.

I think the insurance would not cover me.

Before get around, I have 2 other projects on the go :D

I know of a car seat upholstery place in Dublin, used to pass it every morning on way to work. Its along the quays, past the Guinness factory as yuo're heading away from Heuston Station. Not sure if its still open though...

Its approximately at these coordinates on Google maps 53.346372,-6.28279

You cant miss it when you're there. Old building, Garage Doors, Big sign. Let me know if you find a place, mine really need to be done too....

I got a quote last week for a pair of MX-5 seats, to be trimmed in full leather, in Dublin - €500 for the pair.
