I am thinking of buying a new set of wheels for racing. What sort of wheel should I look to buy. My budget would be between € 600 - € 1,200 for the set. I want value for money though for new wheels.

Any recommendations and where is generaly competitive to buy them.

    Thanks

For racing week in week out on Irish road you won't go fa wrong with them or the Kysrium SL's.

I know someone who recently got the cosmics at rate comparable to the links posted at cyclesuperstore. Some shops might do them on the 'bike to work'??. You wont go far wrong with Campy Bora's-there was a romour that most of the pro teams were using them at Tour of Flanders and sticking their sponsors decals on them. If they can survive Flanders they might stand some chance on Irish roads.

Anyone using cheap(ish) tubulars these days?

Ambrosio Nemesis are available from wheelsmith from £304 a set.

Obviously the running costs of using tubs offsets the relative cheapness of the initial purchase, but as the default choice for cobbles they must be pretty tough.

Bike to work is for complete bikes and specified safety equipment only - you cannot get components

I think you're mistaken and mixing them up with Ambrosio Nemesis rims, which a huge number of teams would use debranded or rebranded for the cobbled races. A lot of the Campagnolo sponsored riders even weren't on Boras for this race.

I've done but I don't have the receipt to prove it.

Thanks for setting me straight-the Campag propagandists have been at it again.
