    MS Paint. If that's all you're looking to do! GIMP is a photoshop alternative and, as I agree it's handy, it's not really something you're looking for at the moment.

    http://www.gimp.org/ I'd say have a look at a few videos tutorials and screenshots. But for what you're looking to do microsoft paint will do that no bother!
