Hi all Ive been tinkering with an idea for a while,at first I thought it was great (as i do with all my ideas) but its been weeks now and i still thinks it's class. But now he is the tricky part...where do I begin?
Is their some kind of business consultants I can go to or are these too expensive, basically I want to know if this business is feasable leagally and if so what are my costs,i basically know what Ill need.
A top website, constant updating as in scores etc so twice a week ish updating, admin costs for working out these scores etc,and then basically need to know what licencing fees if any id have to pay premier league/FA for use of players names/club names.
So basically where do i look for info, would my county enterprise board be any use? I just need to find where I stand legally, where I could find a company capable of building, maintaining this site etc.
Of course I dont expect anyone here to do the work for me,but could anyone recommend a professional,or someone to talk to about setting up business....experts if you will.thanks

    Hi Turkleton,

The first thing you need to do is ask the prospective customers what do they think of it. What you think they want is probably not what they actually want. No doubt as you develop this service it will twist and turn more times than Lombard 'Crookedest' Street in San Fran...

Once you are sure of your venture and have sufficient cash reserves one potential software company worth checking out is Agile Technologies. Ask for Romans. They've developed major web 2.0 sites including one of the world's largest podcasting sites. I've used them for small bits in the past and have been happy with result and price.

Alternatively, you could go down the route of searching coders on rentacoder or getafreelancer.com. This takes time and lots of effort. You will probably have a few bad experiences before you find the right people.

The Co.Enterprise Boards are okay but don't expect miracles from them as they're more geared to more physical traditional start-ups although they have supported some web projects on big enough scales.

I would recommend that once you've got your business plan together check out accelerator / incubation programmes like Hothouse.ie, M50 programme etc. Enterprise Ireland announced their own programme lately. Do a bit of googling and in an hour you'll have the full list of programmes and how to apply. Once on an approved programme you are eligable to apply for particular EI (feasibility funding).

I hope this is of help.
    Paul

I doubt there'll be a problem with publishing scores from matches, after all that's just news. There will be issues with player images and fixture lists.
A simple reporting of results is easy but available everywhere, so what's your unique feature?
PM me for some background info, I created a text game years ago for premiership results.
