Correct me if i'm wrong here, but before Season 8, the one and only time the clock ticked without any sound was back in Season 3 when
Jack had to kill Ryan Chapelle.

So on last week's episode on Sky1 (7am-8am)
we had the silent clock ticking down again, after the assassination of President Hassan
which did have a very big emotional impact on the show.

    Now this week (8am-9am)
There was yet another silent clock ticking, with the rather unexpectd death of Renee Walker
which didn't have quiet the same impact as last weeks.

Maybe they are just doin this as it is the Final Season or something.

I'm pretty sure those two episodes were wrapped up before it was confirmed that the show was ending.

Whats one way of getting Jack to go off the wall crazy and kill everyone and everything involved? Kill someone (or pretend to kill someone) he loves. Its not the only way, but ensures a pretty damn cool finale.

Hopefully this will all lead up to Jack kickin (and killin) some serious butt leading up to the finale. I call Jack facing off against Logan in some way

There have been quite a few silent clocks before:

    Season 1: Teri Bauer,
Season 2: George Mason and David Palmer (assassination attempt),
    Season 3: Ryan Chapelle,
    Season 5: Edgar Stiles,
Season 6: The "death" of Jack's old life,
Redemption: As Jack and co. are airlifted away from Sangala,
Season 7: Renee Walker's faked death and Bill Buchanan

And our two in a row.

Agree with you on that one. The Ryan Chapelle one was so hard to watch. One of the most emotionally difficult TV show moments I've ever watch. I was just praying for the inevitable not to happen....and when it did, God it was a sad moment.

Yeah that was awesome. By far the highlight of season 3. You're just waiting for the get out clause, I was literally stunned when he did it. Awesome stuff.
