I dont know a plumber in that area but I did get a new boiler recently. A Dimplex High eficiency A rated boiler and it is excellent. Really silent and very efficient.

i've got my 10 years old replaced few month ago with a combi boiler (domestic hot water & hot water heating).
i'm much obliged to SEI for the grant, bill coming down alright.

get a grant approval from SEI first and pickup a gas installer that is registered with BG,some boilers are coming with 5 years warranty...

i'll pass you by PM the company that did the work for me in half a day,all running ok !

    enjoy it...

Have a look at this link http://www.rgii.ie/

It will also give you a list of all Registered Gas Installers in Ireland.

They will all be fully qualified & Insured to work on gas.

As a Bord Gais Service Engineer, I would recommend you look at the main boiler manufacturers, Potterton, Baxi, Vokera, Glowworm, Ideal, as these have full backup, parts easily available and all engineers are familiar with them

I install Ariston, Worcester and Vokera. The new Aristons are fantastic and dont give any trouble if installed correctly. Worcester have a long and proven track record and Vokera are Vokera. Ariston parts are easily accessible through precision Heating in Ballycoolin (there is more than heatmerchants out there) And Worcester and Vokera parts can be got from Heatmerchants. Viessman are another great boiler and are probably the most efficient on the market. At the end of the day a boiler is a boiler the only difference between them all is how the PCB tells them to operate. They all have the same components (with slight differences) and the sequence of operation is the same mostly.
Dimplex are good too I've serviced a few and they are nice to work on, parts for those can be got in any Heaton Buckley's.

If an RGI turns around and says he wont install or work on a perticular boiler because he dose not know the brand well then stir clear of him. Some RGI's will install certain makes because they just like that brand but the end of the day it's your house and if you want a certain boiler installed and the RGI is good he will do it no questions asked.

Go onto the SEDBUK website and have a look at all the different makes with there efficiencies. This website is independent and favours NO manufactures.

I dont know anyone over that way but as the other poster said go onto the RGII website. Make sure you grill your installer about experience and so on and references. Make sure they powerflush your system prior to the new boiler going in. A new boiler should not be fitted to an existing system without it being cleaned. I've seen dirty systems destroy new boilers in less than a year.

Once you get it done you wont look back.

Time for me to replace my Vokera. Ive been living in my house for about 11 years and the previous owners were maybe here 4 years. Its still working, but Im not hopful for this winter.

I rang BG to ask about getting a boiler done and they said I could put it on the bill, pay it on the drip but I see no information about that. Is that still done? I just cant afford the €2k ish price at the moment.

JohnnieK, I like the the way your talking. You are telling everyone the questions we should be asking, should we not just avoid asking everyone else, and just get you to do the job?

Balbriggan to Firhouse, does that work for you?

Yes it can still be put on the bill but they charge the most out there for new boilers.
