What's your memories of 1994 ?

Was talking with a mate over the weekend (few beers, you know how it is...), anyway, we were talking about Reeling in the years & got talking about our own memories & came to the conclusion that the most fun we had was 1994 before we both settled down.

We were travelling in the USA that summer, had many a wild encounter & life was so simple & care free. It was also the summer Ireland played in the world cup in the US (although we didn't get to the games).

Was a great time in general.

What's your memories of that year ?

    1994 BC
    or
    1994 AD

I have memories of the latter but I've read the former was better, in terms of bronze related activity, and tombs? and the like.

I was 15/16 - half my ****ing life ago!

Junior cert, World Cup, Riverdance - whatever you think of it now, the dancing looked incredible; first drink, first time going to a nightclub, first job (Tesco - then Quinnsworth), going on hols to Mallorca with my friend and her mum - hanging out with English lads in their 20s and reassuring them we were 18, Oasis's Live Forever - brings a lump to my throat now when it's used as backing music for the Houghton goal, the start of Britpop (mixed views on that myself), the IRA ceasefire... and a general sense of well-being in the air as boom-time started to become apparent in Ireland.

I remember Ray Houghton scoring in the 11th minute against Itlay in the Meadowlands.

The 90s are all somewhat of a blur after that.

Me too! I remember getting my face painted as a tiger and learning how to cross the road in playschool... And then being annoyed at my dad for making me hold his hand when we crossed because I'd already learned how :p

EDIT: Just noticed we have the same avatar. Weird.

Lying on a beech with my friends and our women, in the sun in wexford smoking joints and drinking southers comfort; listening to the radio, no job, no school, no college and no responsabilities plenty of money from slightly naughty activities and my mothers car whenever I wanted it.

One of the standout years of my life it must be said and do you know where I came from? Failing first year in college.

Oh it's just there was a high-profile murder in such circumstances in Cork about that time. :)

It was also the year of Fred and Rosemary West - my bro had a look of Fred West (seriously, it was pretty uncanny :o) hence much japes and hilarity from his friends...

finishing second year in colllege - going on a J1 to the US - working down in tacky Jersey on the shore - great times though - hot and horny american girls were a very pleasant change from frumpy frigid Irish gals back home (this was the era where fashion for Irish girls was a wolly jumper and it was still a bit of a sin for a girl to touch a lad's mickey!). Going to the Ireland-Norway game at Giants stadium, nights out in New York, living it up in Cape Cod...
parties every night - a bit wrecked at the end of the summer and then on to France for a college year abroad - a little studying, a lot of partying and french girls.
yep - probably one of the most carefree and fun years for me too.

Competing as a Swimmer in the Fobissea Games representing me School...

    Roller Blading enthusiast...

    Hmm, drawing a blank :pac:

After he scored an own-goal while playing for Columbia against the USA in Los Angeles. Columbia was figured to go far in the World Cup that year as well.

They figured the amount of drug money that was gambled between both sides was incredible.

When you are from Medellín and you just cost drug dealers a fortune.......don't go back to Medellín.

It's so hard to believe it was 16 years ago. I started secondary school on the same day that the IRA announced their ceasefire. I seem to remember Seal's 'Kiss from a Rose' and Sheryl Crow's 'All I wanna do' were almost permanently on the radio back then. Oh, and Whigfield, of course...
