Importing a car from UK - twice

I have a car that was imported from the UK (VRT paid etc etc). It is now back over on the Isle of Man (new reg etc etc). If I sold it to someone in Ireland would they need to pay VRT on it?

No, he won't. The car has been registered here via a chassis/ VIN number and will be on the revenue's system. The original registration plate will be re-assigned to the car. You'll need to register with the VRT office though (at €50) to let them know the car is back in the country.
