Portsmouth to be relegated next season

I don't think odds are available anywhere on this yet. How does it work if I wanted to request odds on this? I have an online account with Paddys so would you just send a email asking for odds?

I'd also be interested in what posters think.

My rationale is that there could be a firesale in Portsmouth during the the summer to meet their debt of 105-111 million, am I right in saying if they are in administration next season they are automatically relegated as well as there's a very punitive rule about being in administration two seasons in a row. Also there is a very strong league one this year so its likely that the 3 teams coming up will not be relegation candidates next year.

If anyone knows what their debt level will have be (roughly) next season to avoid administration i'd be very interested.

I'd say I'd take odds of 5/1 or better with a small stake.

Until the teams are known for the Championship next season, you won't get a price anywhere

The bookies will be waiting for the points deduction before they make up their book.

And Pompey won't go down in that division, believe me.
They'll have enough for midtable I reckon :D

The OP has a point. They are in a Leeds of a few years ago, like situation. Massive debts (moreso than Leeds ever had I believe) a wage bill that has to be decimated over the summer and the potential of more points deductions next year. I believe most of the money has been sucked out of the club by successive owners.
However, I believe the bookies will factor this into their calculations and the price will reflect that.

I don't know how it can be said with any certainty that they won't be candidates to go down next year, I personally think Avram Grant has done a superb job with them this year (Although his moaning about the "victimisation" of Portsmouth by the football league is completely off the mark), I presume Grant won't be there next season, a lot of their team are foreign journeymen who won't be interested in sticking around. If they lose the likes of David James, Marc Wilson, Hayden Mullins, Finnan etc as well they’re screwed, No one with any cash will buy them either as why would you buy a team with 110 million of debt and a rundown stadium.

My hope is to get a good early price before players start using the exit door and stick 20 on it.
