    Hi,

Sorry for the new thread, as I know this is covered in a few others, but don't want this lost in with general threads!

    Just wondering:

    (a) do you actually need a case; and
    (b) what are the best types of cases to get.

I always wondered what the point was of people getting the iphone cases that protected the back and sides of the phone, but left the screen uncovered. obviously I realise that the screen is uncovered for ease of access, but I would have thought that being the most vunerable and easily damaged part, if you were to cover anything up it would be the screen. if you can live with the screen being uncovered, why worry about the hard backing?

Similarly with my new Desire, is there really much point to getting a silicone type case that leaves the screen exposed? Surely the phone itself can withstand being carried in a pocket.

I go for a silicone case for two main reasons, it would absorb shock more than a plastic one and the other big one is that it makes it non slip. This has saved previous phones and gadgets dropping so many times, if I hit off a table or anything like that and it also gives it grip if I put it on the dashboard in a car or whatever, it stays put and doesn't slide as the car turns etc. To be honest, the screen is really only going to get damaged if it hits off an edge of something. If there's silicone casing around it, this is what's going to get hit :)

I ordered a ZAGG cover for mine last week. It is the only one i could find specifically for the desire. I will report back with my opinion of it when i have it.
