Congratulations to everybody who were successful at the IPF judging yesterday. There were some really incredible panels on display.

The stand out ones for me were the "kingfisher" panel in the A section as well as the sports panel in the same category.

The wait while the judges scrutinize your panel is agonizing. I really wasn't sure how the HDR would go down but happily for me the judges went with it. The last 2 in the Fellowship section really shows that anything goes in terms of style. They were pretty "out there" and incredibly original.

    Here is my panel:

A friend took a pic of me the second the result was being announced. I think it says it all really about the tension: http://www.flickr.com/photos/33895202@N07/4550506372/

Well done again to everybody who got their distinctions and better luck in November to those who didn't get it this time.

Congrats Barry. Whatever about HDR and weather people love or hate it. Your compositions are wonderful, well thought out very easy on the eye.

Well done Barry, I was through the same experience last November and not easy.

You panel was very impressive, certainly stood out from the general run of the others.

I really enjoyed the day, I went down to support some of our club members who had panels in and to see our club B/W panel hung, there was some really impressive work shown with IMHO the Kingfisher panel (I think it was for a F) being possibly the single best body of photographic work I've ever seen in the flesh, I was up the back with a pair of binoculars watching each shot being hung and my jaw just kept dropping lower and lower as the twenty images went up. One of the judges said after that it wouldn't be out of place in National Geographic and I'd agree.

Again well done to all who submitted panels and even if you didn't get through it won't be long till November comes around.

I was wondering who the clever person with the binoculars was

    Must bring mine next time.

Yes, it's a pity about the HDR. I think I've said this to you before Barry, but I think you had a good thing going on before you started whanging all those sliders to 11.

Well done Barry .... and any others who were successful.

Typing this from a lay by on the M4 in South Wales, otherwise I would have been there to see them.

Yeah well done to all that entered and where successful. Its a real achievement to get your 'L'. Heaven knows what it must feel like getting an 'F'. The Kingfisher Panel was by Des Connors a member of Mid-Louth Camera Club. Its absolutely stunning...! I'm actually the secretary there and we are soooooo delighted for him. I actually have his panel here and will ask if he wants me to put it up on our pBase gallery..! Its really something special....!
