Two & A Half Men - your opinion?

Right, now i watch it....ok?, but even i admit it lacks laughs, covers the same ground over and over, lots of secondary characters overlooked. I don't think the show should be sooo Charlie focused.

But it's got a few laughs in each ep. and i like some of the crude dialogue, but overall i wouldn't miss it as much as TBBT which i think is far superior.

Opinions?

I brought it up on another TAAHM thread but when you look at charlie sheen in both hot shots films and he is epically funny I can't believe this show is so unfunny.

The rehashed joke of the kid not understanding a metaphor really really pisses me off though.

There is a great you tube clip of this show with the laugh track removed or something and it's one gut complaining how unfunny it is. Made me lol anyway!

I don't find it funny at all but one of my mates loves it. I did like seeing Sheen in the Big Bang Theory, that was pretty cool.

It's grand. People have been over exposed to it. In recent series it has lost a fair amount of it's laughs but it's still watchable. Good for when nothing else is on. It was better when the kid was a baby.

The biggest problem is it has gone on for way too long. If it had been 2 or 3 seasons it would be counted ok. It's mostly the same story and jokes replayed, and while they are generally lowest common denominator jokes, they are ok for a quick laugh the first time but after 8 (?) seasons it's boring.

The jokes are, as others have said, very formulaic.

Having said that, the one redeeming thing it's got going for it (and why i tune in occasionally) is the problem male themes.

There aren't a lot of comedies that i can think of that have male problems/neuroses/relationships at the heart of the story.

But yeah, the jokes are quite poor.

well now it WAS funny ,berta is funny. rose was good. the kid is so annoying since he has gotten older, in fact there is no point of him being there but then it wouldnt be called three and a half men. they should cut it now while its watchable .

I always find it funny that even though Sheen is in real life an abusive, wife beating alcoholic not adverse to attempting to stab his wife he's still the most likable thing in the show.

After filming the final episode of Season 7, Sheen quit the show, purportedly due to his rejection of CBS' offer of $1 million per episode as too low.

So Sheen left the show now?

Its still the highest rated comedy in US TV so someone must be watching and finding it funny. Rose and Berta were my favs and also it had some great guest stars stealing the show like Martin Sheen, Sean Penn, Cloris Leachman and Jane Lynch to name but a few

Awful show. Hate every character in it, and dont find any of them funny. How Charlie Sheen gets so much work without being able to speak properly baffles me. I would classify it the same as Everybody Loves Raymond, in that it's something only Americans would think is funny.

Basically this is one of the shows I hate the most on TV at the moment. Awful, awful, awful! I've tried to watch different episodes of it and I find myself not only not laughing, but actually getting angry at the characters and their stupid jokes.

I'm laughing more at myself for how much I hate it than I have ever laughed at the show itself!

One of the most utterly terrible attempts at a comedic television show ever made. Rubbish, contrived, formulaic sh*te. The fact that it's so popular just leaves me in despair. And you can throw in The Big Bang Theory here aswell!

I'd rather chew on my own balls than watch one episode of that ****e.
I immediately class anyone that watches and enjoys it as a complete numbskull not fit to live on this planet.

I suggest anyone watching this crap to go away and watch a proper comedy like Spin City...now there was a classic..(at least the first 4 seasons before Charlie dickwad came into it).

Tried watching an episode of it their just to give it a chance.. still not making any positive impressions on me. That theme music "men, men , men , men." and scene change acapella "meeeeeeeen".. are retarded. Program is just not funny. When I heard heard that it was the highest rated show on US TV I have to say I was AMAZED.

Tv.com which is a great resource btw, reviews every episode of pretty much every series, gives Two And A Half Men average score 8.9, Frasier 9.0, Friends 9.2 .... I just dont see how they can put this show up there with good comedy series

I don't think it's the worst show in the world, but it's not particularly good. I've had some laughs watching it, but there are better things to waste my time on. I'd actually rate it higher than The Big Bang Theory. Never found that show even slightly funny.

I love it and own series 1-6 on DVD. I do agree its gone slightly downhill over the last year or 2 but i still watch it whenever its on Comedy Central. And just for the person that mentioned it, i loved Spin City too.

I like the old episodes, but find with the last few seasons, I can't stand the 0.5 man, he's obnoxious unfunny and like the clip up above, his one joke is that he doesn't understand methaphors. Rubbish. I like Alan though, I'd watch a show called 1.0 Men with just Alan.

I don't like it at all. I'm not a fan of Charlie Sheen, can't disassociate him from what he's like in real life.

Also, the way they portray women is ridiculous. They're either psychotic stalkers (Rose), money-grabbers (Alan's ex-wife) or are just there for Charlie to have sex with. Charlie's ability to seduce every woman he sees is pretty unbelievable, reminds me of the Bond movies where Bond will inevitably end up sleeping with the Bond girl.
