I'm sure it's a quiz question but after a few honest scoops I gotta say what I gotta see, Blue.

Unless this is a subtle message to ur other half that blue* is good ;)

*movies I wasn't referring too of course.

Or maybe less black. I'm not great on spatial evaluation :pac:

I've just noticed that the thread is kinda like one of those bar room brawls in the old westrerns where the fight goes from one place to another...(assignment thread ahem).

Pete, maybe you should ask a slightly different question.

Is this a monochrome or a colour photo?

    Nice Duo-tone.

It's a colour mono. It still doesn't change the fact it is predominantly 1 colour (according to the poll....so far?)
    :D

It does appear to be slightly more blue than black, but I wouldn't take bets on that. :(

Less than 10% difference at least?

Which is why I said ask a different question. I even voted for blue because you asked about the predominant colour and only gave three choices - two of which were irrelevant! There is no RED or GREEN!

He has u going P&B, maybe he has consumed bucketloads of my bucketloads and he wants to wind us (you) up?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,368 ✭✭✭Covey

Ok, send me the details of the WC final + SA Safari.

It doesn't matter whether I won or not as the other two are automatically disqualified:

P&B - would only shoot all the animals ( and maybe some football stars too )
AR -Would only get shot trying to prevent P&B doing the above.

I'd just do feck all and record the above or similar. :D

I'm tellin' ya there's green in that sea.

Check in your software, desaturate green and I bet it changes colour :D

    Predominant

I'm sure there is green in that sea. I'd bet its due to algae and/or seaweed and I'm sure its predominantly blue in the photograph though...

    I like definition 1 best :D

I would say blue it is a very nice photo, a colour mono. I may start posting my photographs here and start quizzing you guys about them!!

Nowhere in any proper description on 'mono' does the word predominant appear.

This is a blue mono -

Let's all make things up as we go along eh ...

The image must be either black and white (grey scale) or have just one colour present through out.

It's a matter of opinion. Predominantly, most people see it as a blue image. If you don't then don't vote on it. The fact you weren't aware that mono didn't mean just black and white speaks volumes about the weight of your arguement ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,503 ✭✭✭smelltheglove

Lol, Pete did you come up with this at the same time as the ruffled feathers brush? I'd go for blue here.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,110 ✭✭✭Thirdfox

Azure... (actually it's nothing like azure blue ;) )

And black isn't a colour - it's the absence of "colour" (no light being reflected - all wavelengths being absorbed into the material).

For the smart alecs - a "black" car isn't black - as light is still being reflected off its surface - lock yourself into a lightproof room/cave/dungeon and then you'll "see" black :p

It's a pity there's green in it, otherwise you'd win this one ...

I downloaded the image and opened it in CS4

then I took the colour sampler tool and put the 1st sampler on the sky and the second sampler on the sea

I got two seperate results therefore indicating that this picture uses more than one colour

    Picture_45_thumb.png

yes I know, I've too much time

Different shades of blue will have different CMYK or RGB values. It still doesn't make them any less blue.

For example....light blue will have different values to navy blue.....its still all blue.

Why not try the same tool on some bw images you have and see if different values appear?

Blue is blue is blue. :)

    oops, didn't realise that Pete.

Your argument is valid now :D

The poll is about human perception so blue wins hands down but on a tech note white light has all wavelengths of visible light and some areas in the photo approach that. Even lasers designed to produce monochromatic light have a very slight bandwidth.

While people continue to count green as a tone of blue ... not likely.

Doesn't seem like there was a point, only to wind people up.
